Ernie Johanson is a Senior Internet Engineer in the Los Nettos group of the Information Technology Services division (ITS) of the University of Southern California. He has over 25 years of experience with technology, including network design and implementation, Linux server administration, and programming.
Prior to joining Los Nettos, Ernie was a senior network administrator at the California Institute of Technology, where he helped maintain a large enterprise campus network of over 2000 switches, routers, and 2000 wireless access points. He designed and implemented a border router upgrade, wireless core network, an IOT network and a research network. He has extensive experience with network protocols and topologies, network monitoring, troubleshooting and configuring servers to provide network services.
He has been active in committee work, serving as the CENIC HPR technical advisory committee chair. He was also a security analyst for three years, doing intrusion detection as well as programming for log and traffic analysis.
